Background of Program
The South Australian Cricket Academy is available for players not selected in underage state squads, the Emerging Redbacks squad or the contracted Redbacks & Scorpions list. Our program provides off-field support, mentoring & personal development resources whilst training in an environment assisting players who aspire to improve their cricket in pursuit to be selected in youth state squads, play Premier 1st Grade and/or Redbacks League.
We exist to support the pool of talented players identified by clubs & schools by providing an ongoing development program for players who missed selection in under 17s, 19s & Emerging Redbacks squads.
During my season with the program, I was mentored into how to become a better cricketer and transition into 1st grade and under 19 state selection. There was a major focus on the skills I needed to practice to continue improving myself as a player into the future whilst giving me the tools to adopt these skills for the rest of my cricketing career to reach my goals. The South Australian Cricket Academy provided exceptional opportunities for me to grow as a cricketer and have a taste of what it's like to manage a workload required to improve as a cricketer with my school studies and work. For players who are in my situation striving to play a higher grade a your club and reach state youth squads, I would recommend attending the SA Cricket Academy.

During my time time in the South Australian Cricket Academy, I was mentored by highly experienced coaches that has supported my skill development and performance, and my understanding of the mental and physical application required to get the most out of my talent. There was also a large focus on refining important skills that helped me develop into a 1st Grade Cricketer and a chance to be selected in the 2019 U/19 winter squad. The program taught me how to understand and focus on the the fundamentals of the game that allow me to execute my skill on a consistent basis. Whilst i was transitioning from Year 12 to University studies, the South Australian Cricket Academy provided an insight into how I can manage my time for training loads with my off field endeavours. For any player that wants to refine their skills in puruits of cricketing goals, I would highly recommend joining the South Australian Cricket Academy.

Joining the South Australian Cricket Academy is one of the best things I have ever done, after moving from the country to the city and joining the program helped develop as a person but ultimately transition to settling into Adelaide. I have found the coaching is the best I have experienced whilst helping me completely reinvent my game and develop my batting & bowling to play consistent cricket. The mentoring within the program has taught me how to enjoy the game and understand what is required short-medium term to reach my long term goals. The South Australian Cricket Academy isn't just a cricket program, it is a family, who are constantly encouraging me to be the best cricketer I can become on the field but also to improve off the field to create balance in my life. I have spent 2 years in the program and for anyone in the same position I was moving from the country and being lost with my cricket, this is one of the best experiences in my life and is highly recommended.

I’m proud to be part of the South Australian Cricket Academy. I always feel that I am a valued member and that Ben genuinely wants to help me improve as a cricketer. I have grown massively in confidence and refined my fundamental skills as part of the program. This is the only program I’ve had where I feel that everything has just ‘clicked’. The way Ben goes about the coaching helps identify & improve weaknesses. Further to that, I find that Ben coaches in a way that I just ‘get it’ and what a million other coaches have said in the past just all of a sudden makes sense with the way he talks about the game. He keeps it simple and his way of giving me just enough advice to work things out for myself has been crucial to my development as I can begin to coach myself and identify in my own training how I need to improve. This mentality benefits you tremendously on game day. Having access to elite facilities, elite coaching and loads of resources that the academy can provide benefits me as a player. I feel I truly get a taste of the elite sporting lifestyle & requirements of that lifestyle as part of this academy. The flexibility of the program to work around my lifestyle is second to none. It provides elite training at a time convenient for me. It doesn’t get much better than that!
